Midwest Railcar Presents Annual Awards for Excellence

This week in Maryville, IL Dave Smith(left) was awarded the Midwest Railcar 2011 Presidential Award for Excellence. Dave, located in Oak Grove, MN, has been with Midwest for over 10 years and currently is a VP of Sales covering various regions of the US. Dave accepted this award from the Midwest President and CEO, Rich Murphy(right), to a standing ovation from the Midwest staff and guests at the company’s annual holiday party. Dave commented after receiving the award that coming to work for Midwest was one of the best decisions he’s ever made and that the company’s success is truly a team effort. The Midwest staff is proud to have Dave as part of the team and the winner of this prestigious award for 2011. Awards were also presented to Karyn Ward, Director of Credit and Contract Administration and Corey Coil, VP of Sales for their outstanding contributions to the company throughout 2011.

Tim Stanford presented the President’s Award

Tim Stanford (left) was presented the MRC annual President’s Award for Excellence for 2010. A presentation was made to Tim at MRC’s annual year end meetings in December and the plaque was recently hung in the corporate office featuring Tim as the first recipient of this prestigious award. Tim is the Director of Fleet Maintenance and Field Inspections, responsibilities include overseeing repair programs for cars going into new leases or returning from service as well as inspection of these cars at shops or in the field for acquisition purposes. Tim, based out of Oelwein, IA, has been in the Maintenance department for MRC for 6 years. The MRC team congratulates Tim and looks forward to celebrating this award with Tim for all of 2011.

Midwest Railcar grows by 200!

Midwest Railcar Corporation has contracted with American Railcar Industries (ARI) for 200 3260 cubic foot covered hoppers. These cars will be used in sand service and will begin delivery during the 4th Quarter of 2010.

With this acquisition, Midwest Railcar Corporation meets a goal of expanding their fleet by adding newly built equipment. Midwest feels new car acquisitions provide an excellent opportunity to expand business with new and existing customers. With its recent acquisition of 360 Woodchip Gondolas and 440 Flat Bottom Gondolas, Midwest Railcar Corporation now has a railcar fleet of approximately 10,000 quality railcars that it leases to third party shippers and railroads and manages for other railcar users and investors.
