Midwest Railcar Corporation traces its roots back to 1998, when it was formed by
Richard Murphy as a company specializing in leasing and selling quality commercial
freight railcars to shippers and railroads as well as managing railcars for railcar
fleet owners and users. Since that time, Midwest Railcar Corporation has grown to
become an established railcar leasing and management company with a current railcar
fleet of approximately 10,000 railcars consisting of various types of covered hoppers,
gondolas, boxcars, open top hoppers and flatcars.
Recognizing the opportunities available to Midwest Railcar Corporation and the capital
required to become a top tier company in its marketplace, Richard Murphy made the long
term strategic decision to sell Midwest Railcar Corporation to
Marubeni Corporation on
November 30, 2006. With the support provided by its financially strong shareholder,
